Traditional American Eggnog
Ingredients
12 egg yolks
1 cup sugar (can add a bit more if needed)
1 quart of whole milk
1 1/2 cups (12 oz) of Rum or Southern Comfort  (add more if you want)
1 quart heavy cream
nutmeg

Directions
  • Beat egg yolks until light; then beat in sugar till mixture is thick.
  • Stir in milk and rum  chill for at least 3 hours.
  • Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks and fold into eggnog mixture and chill for at least 1 hour. 
  • Mix well before serving and dust with nutmeg.

Short-Cut Recipe:  Use eggnog mix from your dairy; add about 6-8 oz rum to 1 quart of mix.  Fold in 1 cup heavy cream (whipped). Chill; add nutmeg  (Serves 12)
