NOTE:  If  you need a different measurment than 1 Tablespoon and not sure how much to substitute try this LINK. But remember, when using vinegar substitute be sure to measure accurately for best results. It’s the acidic quality of vinegar that is most likely what is needed by your recipe in order to turn out properly, whether it be a rice vinegar substitute, red wine vinegar substitute or any other type of vinegar substitute. Since vinegar is such a strong flavor in its own right, substitutions for vinegar will alter the taste and possibly the texture, weight, or moisture content of the finished recipe – whether it’s better or worse depends upon your own palate.  Don’t be afraid to experiment though, you just might like the new flavored vinegar substitute better than the original!

Another great substitute for vinegar is herbed vinegar.
To make herb vinegar, start with either wine vinegar or rice vinegar and gently warm it before pouring into a sterile bottle. Add a few washed then dried springs of your favorite herb, like Rosemary, and cover the bottle to set for a few days to allow the herb to flavor the vinegar. Different herbs can make for a unique rice vinegar substitute.
